Working from her studio on the Northumberland UK coastline, Ali is an environmental artist whose artworks are always inspired by the seas and oceans of our fragile planet.
Connecting to a scientific narrative, her work helps highlight many important issues facing vulnerable and endangered marine life.
Through her work she explores the aesthetics of the underwater world to achieve a modern, coastal style with a strong emphasis on illustration. With a background in textile design, she is always searching for natural chaotic patterns, translating the movements using organic formations and composition to make her designs flow. Her unique style is further enhanced by her obsession with the colour blue.
Working to connect art with science she enjoys continually learning about the consequences of unbalance in the oceans.
Every design starts an interesting conversation.
Ali environmental work goes beyond her paintbrush. She has been a rep for Surfers Against Sewage for many years www.sas.org.uk/region/north-east/ helping to protect the oceans and the all fascinating life within it. She regularly organises beach cleans, runs educational workshops, takes part in campaigns and collects data about the health of local rivers and beaches to lobby those in power for change.
She also runs a special interest environmental Arts and Culture group as part of nghonline.co.uk/special-interest-groups/
